Bradley Central Dismantles Soddy Daisy

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The top-ranked Bradley Central Bearettes defeated Soddy Daisy 80-19 on Friday evening from Jim Smiddy Arena.

Anna Walker was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line en route to a game-high 22 points. Anna Muhonen posted 13 points of her own and pulled down and led all players with six rebounds. Cambree Mayo rounded out the double-digit scorers in the game with 12 points to go with four steals.

Walker pulled down five boards of her own and Jamia Williams recorded a game-high five assists and five steals.

Bradley (14-3, 6-0 District 5 AAA) scored the first 10 points of the contest in the rout. Walker hit a 3-point shot off a Mayo assist 35 seconds in and Muhonen hit one of two free throws to wrap up the run. Soddy (7-10, 1-5 District 5 AAA) finally got on the board with a Becca Morgan free-throw and the Bearettes answered with a 14-3 run for a 20 point lead after the first.

Bradley Central extended the lead large in the second with a 21-0 shutout of the Trojans. Walker posted eight second-quarter points and Alexis Barnes pitched in five of her own. Muhonen wrapped up the six-foot attack with two of her own as the three bigs combined for 15 of the 21 Bearette points and head into the locker room up 45-4.

Bradley continued extending the lead in the second half reaching the apex of the lead with a pair of Hannah Jones free-throws with six seconds remaining in the game as the Bearettes handled Soddy Daisy 80-19.

Bailey Branam led the Trojans with eight points, three assists, and two steals. Jada Trimiar had a team-high four rebounds and Candyce Yother recorded two blocks to lead the guests.

The hosts rolled to the win forcing 35 turnovers and outscoring the Trojans 47-0 in points off turnovers. Bradley also used their height advantage to take control in the paint 42-4 and used 16 offensive boards to outscore Soddy 14-3 in second-chance scoring. The Bearettes continued the sweep in specialty stats with a 29-0 edge in fast breaks and a 22-5 advantage in bench scoring.

Bradley outrebounded the Trojans 35-20 in the contest.

Soddy Daisy only found the basket 6-of-26 (23.1 percent) times and was even colder from beyond the car shooting 2-for-9 (22.2 percent) from distance. The Trojans were 50 percent (5-of-10) from the charity stripe.

Bradley Central shot 48.2 percent (27-for-56) from the floor and 6-for-16 (37.5 percent) from 3-point range. The Bearettes took advantage at the line shooing 80 percent (20-for-25).

The Bearettes will be back in action on Saturday as they take a step out of district play and take on Marion County at 4:30 p.m.
