Bradley Drops Games To Blackman

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The Bradley Central Bearettes dropped their first game of the year to Blackman, 46-33, on Tuesday evening inside Jim Smiddy Arena.

Anna Muhonen paced the Bearettes with 15 points and eight rebounds to go with four steals. Jamia Williams matched with four steals of her own.

Bradley Central (4-1) struggled to get the ball in the bucket shooting a cold 19.6 percent (9-for-46) from the floor and was 1-for-18 (5.6 percent) from 3-point range. The Bearettes cashed in on 14-of-18 (77.8 percent) shooting from the charity stripe to account for their 33 points.

Both teams struggled to score early on until Blackman (4-1) took advantage of a Bearette turnover to score the first basket of the game. After going back-and-forth Muhonen hit a layup to give Bradley a three-point lead with 2:46 to go in the quarter but the Blaze answered with a 6-0 run to take a 9-6 lead after one quarter.

Blackman stretched their lead to three more, outscoring Bradley, 14-11, in a see-saw second frame to take a, 23-17, advantage at the half.

The Blaze then stretched its lead to the largest of the night and had a 15 point lead with 2:45 left in the third and finished the frame with a, 34-22, edge before holding on for a, 46-33, victory in the fourth.

Iyana Mooer led all players with a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds to go with two assists and four steals.

Blackman went 16-of-40 (40 percent) overall and 4-of-9 (44.4 percent) from 3-point distance. The Blaze struggled from the free-throw line shooting 50 percent (10-of-20).

Bradley Central will be back in action on Thursday against Marion County at 6:15 p.m.
